14/48: The World's Quickest Theatre Festival

I have been invited to participate as an actor in multiple festivals where 14 world-premiere plays are written and produced in 48 hours. I love gathering with so many artists, seeing old friends and making new ones, and embracing the process! 

As an actor, my name is drawn out of the Cone of Destiny (a giant plastic ice cream cone) on Friday morning and I spend the day getting ready to perform that evening. I have to make some quick decisions all day and learn lines and blocking.

It’s wonderful to spend the day with a small group of artists working on a play that was written the night before and see how it all turns out then repeat the process again on Saturday with a whole new play!

Recipient of the Mazen Award

I was honored to receive the Mazen Award during the first weekend of the July 2024 festival. The Mazen Award is "awarded to veteran participants of 14/48 who embody the spirit of camaraderie and risk-taking inherent in our process."

Annex Theatre

Annex Theatre is a “democratic collective of theatre artists dedicated to creating bold new work in an environment of improbability, resourcefulness, and risk.”

I have been a company member since 2006, acted in three mainstage productions, and volunteered during the monthly, late-night variety show Spin the Bottle for 10 years. Spin the Bottle, similar to the 14/48 Festival, was an excellent chance to reconnect with old friends, meet new artists, and watch (or perform) some wild and wondrous art!
